man when I was like what nine I was so excited when I found out there was a sequel to the lion king and it was about Simba’s daughter a GIRL WAS THE MAIN CHARACTER OMG??? then of course because she was a girl it had to 100% be about *forbidden romance* and little me was just like :( I DON’T CARE I WANTED TO SEE HER KICK BUTT LIKE SIMBA DID WITH A LITTLE ROMANCE ON THE SIDE but nope just had to be about love and her being saved by her love interest whatevs also was super dissapoint Nala wasn’t in it much BUT THE SOUNDTRACK WAS SO GOOD JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL I STILL LISTEN TO IT ALL THE TIME!!! DECEPTIOOOON DISGRACCCCE SO GOOD another interesting aspect I remember was Simba having like clear PTSD (LION PTSD) like he’s still having nightmares about the thing with Scar and shit I was like :(. I saw the Lion King Musical Play last night btw

I like that Rafiki was a lady in this, apparently because the woman who directed it was like “why aren’t there more female characters in this story”. GOOD IDEA LADY.

Also NALA GOT A WHOLE SONG TO HERSELF

Would you believe I prefer the musical over the film?

don’t get me wrong the film is amazing but the musical is WOW FUCKING AWESOME

it adds a lot to many characters and develops them more, not to mention all the female characters are given more prominent roles in it. and the cast is mainly poc, which is great.

The production I saw was entirely POC, which was fantaaaaaaaaastic. It was all so fab.

I definitely prefer a lot of elements of the musical to the movie though I have a hard time letting go of nostalgia. I didn’t like whoever played Scar in what I saw’s performance as much as the voice acting for Scar in the movie, but omg the woman who played Rafiki, the kids, the lady who played Nala were all phenomenallll.
