People Like Me Ruin Feminism

now i am getting sad bc i grew up w/ steph and cass

sort of 

they were dead and inexplicably evilchattyandincompetent when i got into comics but i got batgirl at my lcs and then literally all the robin issues Steph was in and like

they were about my age at the time (I was 14) and they were the characters I could relate to easiest as a result, Cass was my Batgirl and Steph was my Robin and I thought they were the coolest shit they were heroes for my generation and they were bffs to boot

I was like SO FUCKIN HAPPY when Cass was de-evilified like even though it was the clumsiest shit ever I was like YES MY BABY IS BACK

then Steph came back and my livejournal was 100 percent capslock posts about that and I was looked forward to their tearful reunion and wrote fic and it….never happened…

i had to put up with Nicieza’s shitty Robin run I bought entirely JUST FOR STEPH even though he treated Steph like complete shit like “oh no Tim’s horrible screw up girlfriend who hires assassins watch him tell her to ***put away her costume OR ELSE HE WILL UNLEASH HIS MANRAGE***” hahahahaha no

and Batman and the Outsiders? that shit was utterly terrible but I bought it solely because CASS WAS IN IT and she actually interacted with Steph in it once only Steph was drawn with her waist the size of a stick and they acted like they barely knew each other oh and STEPH INEXPLICABLY HAD THE POWER TO TURN INVISIBLE does anyone remember that I just remembered that JESUS CHRIST COMICS what the hell no editors anywhere ever

then Steph became Batgirl and of course they packaged Cass off somewhere because comics couldn’t give me both of them at once no

and then Cass finally fucking comes back and I buy Gates of Gotham and even some shitty Robin issues just for her and maybe I can finally have both of them in comics again being cool

but no

reboot happens

both of you are not from the 1970s so bye

I remember all this and wow i wasted so much time on bad comics and a company who clearly did not give a shit about the characters I loved or any characters from  my generation wow what was i doing. I bought horrible comics just because characters I liked were terribly written in them THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVED THEM but…the result was they were thrown away without a second thought anyway.
