starmiemie asked: one of my friends is watching brotherhood for the first time and just got to the first greed arc, so I wanted to ask for her what you thought of martel (greed's female minion) in terms of female agency?
I talked about it here a bit!
[talking about typical lack of female agency in death] FMA doesn’t really fall into this with Martel. She goes down fighting like everyone else. In fact, Al and her friends try to deny her the agency to choose to die attempting revenge (with the best of intentions, mind you, especially Al, who would never willingly let someone be killed in front of him) but she rebels against that, overpowers Al and does what she wants anyway. She was never going to be able to succeed of course, and I’m sure she knew that just as well as Roa and Dolcetto knew they weren’t going to, but she wanted to give it a shot, just like her friends. I’m sad she died, but I’m glad she got her agency and got to die on her own terms.
If it’s something about FMA ladies odds are I’ve already tl;dr’d my opinions on it.
