The only ones I’m wobbly on is Toph and Katara- I can see them both in Gryff as well. But these all fit pretty well. OH GOD ZUKO IS SUCH A GRYFF AND AANG IS SUCH A HUFF IT’S RIDICULOUS. SOKKA RAVENCLAW 4 LIFE.
I’m going to say I completely agree with Toph as a Slytherin. She’s not as much reckless as she is hardworking and she’s more about cunning and ambition than loyalty and hard work. Yes, she joined Team Aang and was dedicated to it once she felt they were her group, but it was her cunning and personal ambition that had her first join them and stay when she was initially less than included. — Also, I really hate the implication that only “bad people” are sorted into Slytherin. It was an uncomfortable slot in JK’s writing too. The way it was played, they might as well have jailed people the moment they were sorted into that house because the statistics leaned so heavily towards doing bad things if not going full on Death Eater.
Katara should be Gryffindor though. You ignore her recklessness and overwhelming passion when you put her in Hufflepuff, and I feel like graphic-maker may have done it out of some perceived obligation to have at least 3 people in each house and keep the graphic balanced.
Let’s add some more folk from ATLA to houses (tried to add one to each house, please add on)!
- Teo - Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff
- Haru - Hufflepuff
- The Boulder - Gryffindor
- Smellerbee - Gryffindor or Hufflepuff
- Jet - Slytherin
- Longshot - Ravenclaw
I basically agree! I’d put Toph more firmly in Slytherin than I would Katara in Hufflepuff, and I definitely see why the graphic maker put her there to subvert the bad people thing- but she has her reckless moments so I was just saying she has shades of Gryff. But then, a lot of Slytherins do, they tend to be pretty closely related wrt ambition and showing off. Slyth is a pretty good fit for her. Whereas I see Katara as a few shades more Gryff than Puff.

Basically my favorite thing about Katara is she’s allowed to be petty and own her anger and still be presented as fundamentally helpful and kind motherly person
because girls are NEVER ALLOWED TO DO THAT in fiction hardly EVER.
If they want to be helpful and sweet they better never be angry or selfish because god how could anyone like a girl who ever does that. They must dedicate themselves to helping everyone else with their problems and never have feelings of their own. Those attitudes are reserved for the “bad girls”.

Aww man I kept seeing scans going around Tumblr and it made me assume it would be coming within the next few weeks, and it looks good enough to captivate my interest. Oh well, at least now I can make time for a rewatch of the series over winter break or something
