Trauma warning for fatphobia
Vega: The only things I enjoy anymore are eating and watching TV, so I’ve gotten really fat!
Waah!
Villain girl (concerned): Oh, Mrs. Vega!
Vega: And if I don’t wear makeup, I end up looking like this! *dough face*
If only I had a youthful face like Sailormoon…
Chibiusa: Eh? How can you describe Usagi’s face that way?
Vega: One year, my husband saw my face without makeup…and ever since then, he’s been totally cold to me…
(flashback)
Vega: Eek! I haven’t put on my makeup yet!
Her husband (Yikes)
Vega: Ever sine then, it’s rained…
Vega: And tonight it’s super cloudy, I’m sure it’s threatening rain, it’s like the heavens themselves have poured down a river of rain itself on my night!
All I want to do is see my husband, but whenever there’s rain I’ve got no chance at all, what an unhappy fate!
Villian girls (comforting Vega): Yeah, that’s just how it is, men only love women who are young and beautiful
Men can’t be trusted, as long as you’re in a long distance relationship with a guy, you’ll get the short end of the stick.

Yeah, there are issues all over the place here, but don’t worry, it gets better and comes together to even send a message that’s fairly good woman-positive (not excusing the fat phobia displayed here, but , bad worldwide culture shit there that especially influences Japan). Also, it’s very tongue in cheek, dealing with the image and insecurity issues women can face while aging by projecting them on the goddess. I imagine Naoko is parodying experience. Just sit tight!
