leaguerulesfrownupon: Cause you have a valid argument that I agree with about how the movie treats and portrays certain characters and it just seems like embellishment to say "oh the black guy died first". The black guy died and it was wrong he was the only X-Men to die, but Oliver Platt was an important character and was killed in the same scene, before Darwin. To ignore that and to lump him in as a generic human in the movie is kind of unfair to his character who was the only guy in the government trying to protect mutants. I agree with you the portrayal of POC's in the movie was pretty crappy but to say Darwin was the first character killed off takes away from an important part of the movieI
don’t really care about being unfair to this guy’s character. I’m glad you like him, but he’s not the issue I’m focusing on. I don’t think that’s the most pertinent issue here at all. He wasn’t on the team, even if he was nice and provided them with important resources. He wasn’t a mutant, and Charles made it clear he didn’t consider him part of the team when he told him the mutants were doing this on their own.
At any rate, Darwin was the first mutant to die. He was black. He was the first member of the mutant team to die. He was black. He was the only member of the team to die, and he died in the same scene the other POC member defected. That is what’s important here, and focusing on anything else feels like derailing.
