And so we have Chibusa go over her hardships. This bit I think contains one of the most significant characterization differences between manga and anime Chibiusa. First of all, Chibiusa knows Usagi is her mom and Sailor Moon from the beginning, which makes way more sense than in the anime where she didn’t. Are we supposed to believe they told her stories about Sailor Moon but never told her “hey, that’s your Mom?” And why would Usagi Tsukino have the silver crystal if she wasn’t Sailor Moon and Chibiusa’s mom, who CHIBIUSA IS NAMED AFTER?
And second, while anime Chibiusa tended to be highly critical of Usagi’s flaws (eSPECIALLY in R, where she was also distrustful of Usagi for that reason), manga Chibiusa is more pleased by them, recognizing traits in Usagi she herself has. She can relate to Usagi, and it’s really fun for her to see her Mom mess up so much. It’s a pretty cute dynamic, and realistic- wouldn’t we all be surprised and pleased at what losers our parents were as teenagers, and to see they were human too?
