Regarding a few reblogs I got about Chibiusa:

I agree it was annoying in the anime when they’d regress Usagi’s character around her, but let’s face it, that wasn’t limited to Chibiusa interaction. There were episodes where they’d regress Usagi to acting childish and jealous about EVERYONE (even Ami I mean come on) regarding Mamoru which made no sense, since in all other episodes she’d be totally fine with it. The anime was just kind of bad about occasionally regressing Usagi for the sake of comedy. And some of Usagi’s best moments were as a result of Chibiusa (like jumping off the top of the world to save her hell yeah)and even their anime relationship was really sweet when you got down to it, so it balances out for me.

The fighting over Mamoru got annoying in the anime, yes, but that’s not Chibiusa’s fault- she’s twelve and she’s out to annoy Usagi. Usagi will respond. The writers will use the same gag to the point where it’s annoying and regressive. And I really don’t think it was incestuous in any way, I mean neither party was EVER serious. It was purely an excuse to argue. And a) lots of girls have “crushes” on their daddies at young age that aren’t incestuous, b) Chibiusa sees Usagi and Mamoru as different people from her parents most of the time. They’re the cool older brother and annoying but secretly cool older sister, and of course she wants to monopolize Mamoru’s attention, she likes him and she’s a kid AND it’s a way for her to focus Usagi’s attention on her too, which she secretly wants.

I’m not saying Chibiusa never annoyed me (she probably did more than any other character in the anime, except for Mamoru. YET I STILL REALLY LIKE BOTH OF THEM) or I don’t see the flaws in her writing in the anime, but a lot of the arguments against her are specious.
