The death of Dwayne McDuffie is really just awful and saddening. I’m not as familiar with his work on comics, but his work in animation has been consistently excellent, and his work for minorities in comics was fantastic. He always came across as smart, funny and kind and he was one of those creators I had affection for both as a person and regarding their body of work. DC screwed him over sometimes, but he always really tried and put in the effort, you know? I would be saddened by the death of anyone, but this one really touched me on a more personal level than most others in the industry would have, because of what he represented, what he did, and how genuinely I liked him even without personally knowing or being familiar with him. I reblogged a few things and gave my condolences on s_d, but I wanted my own shock, condolences and words to give. He is in my heart, as are all his family and friends.
