SAILOR MOON 2013 WISHLIST:JUST THINK, YOU GUYS.  WE COULD INTRODUCE A WHOLE NEW GROUP OF PEOPLE TO THIS SCENE.THIS SCENE WHERE MINAKO AND REI DON’T NEED BOYS.It’s not about saying that they don’t want boys, it’s not about being so direct as that.  It’s about saying that they don’t need to fill their hearts up with chasing after a love interest because they’ve already filled it up with their duty to their princess.  And I ship it harder for that reason.  Yes, textual lesbians are amazing and we should have more more more of them! But I ship this because Minako and Rei understand each other, because they want the same thing out of life.  If I ship Mamoru/Usagi (for many, many reasons, but also) because they both want to protect this planet they’ve chosen, for their shared dream—why wouldn’t I ship Minako/Rei for the same thing?  Their hearts are in tune with each other and what they want. That is CATNIP TO ME IN SHIPPING.

I think manga Rei didn’t want boys in addition to not needing them, but other than that, complete agreement.
