Steven Moffat Explains Why He’s So Bad At Writing Women
“There’s this issue you’re not allowed to discuss: that women are needy. Men can go for longer, more happily, without women. That’s the truth. We don’t, as little boys, play at being married - we try to avoid it for as long as possible. Meanwhile women are out there hunting for husbands. The world is vastly counted in favour of men at every level - except if you live in a civilised country and you’re sort of educated and middle-class, because then you’re almost certainly junior in your relationship and in a state of permanent, crippled apology. Your preferences are routinely mocked. There’s a huge, unfortunate lack of respect for anything male.”

Well, if you really do want someone to tackle this autumn
1. This assumes all women are cisgendered and heterosexual. Guess what. No. I’m asexual, so men are nothing but friends to me and occasionally people I want to punch (you are the latter). I have no desire to get married. And a lot of girls would be just fine without men because there are lovely ladies to marry.
2. Women are socialized to play house and boys are not. It’s men who started that system too. SOME boys may not play at getting married, but the cis straight ones undoubtedly often need women. For sex, for companionship, and sometimes to take care of them because they’re lazy assholes who can’t take care of themselves. They can’t do without ‘em. And hey, because of our society, it’s the man who proposes.
3.First of all “civilized country”? WHAT THE HELL. Not even touching that classism and racism. Second, domestic abuse, rape and all sorts of gendered crimes where men terrorize women are really rampant among “sort of educated middle class” male female relationships so yeah, women are still oppressed there. Third, “crippled” you ablist asshole sit the fuck down. You’re apologizing because you’re an asshole and obviously it isn’t sincere or you wouldn’t say this shit. Males get respect all the time by being privileged as fuck. It’s women who have to deal with their gender being devalued in the media day in and day out. You wonder why you don’t get respect? Answer: because you pull this shit. You admit you have an advantage in everything in the world, yet you still feel the need to whine about *your* problems and “waaaah I may be able to do anything I want and have everyone love me because I have a dick and enjoy flaunting it but sometimes a woman calls me a doofus!!!!” You get this attitude because your gender has a history of terrorizing women. You didn’t start it, but you’re perpetuating it. You can get respect by actually making an effort not to perpetuate it. Then we’ll talk. Good? Good.
PS I am now never watching any of your shows, I don’t care how beloved they are.
